ADVOCACY IN ACTION

A new bill is moving swiftly through the Oklahoma legislature that would allow arrow-shooting airguns to be used during archery season. Arrow-shooting airguns lack the basic components of standard archery equipment, including limbs and a string system, and should therefore not be authorized for use during archery-only hunting seasons. Join us by voting “NO” to House Bill 2355.

A huge conservation funding and access bill has been presented in the state of Maryland. Senate Bill 327 would provide nearly $9 million annually in additional conservation funding that will go directly into conservation programs benefiting all Maryland hunters, anglers, outdoorsmen, and the DNR.

New Mexico passed a bill in 2021 to appease animal activists that prohibited trapping on public land. To gain traction against anti-hunting threats, we support House Bill 261. The bill would add javelina, bear and mountain lion into the existing wanton waste statute. The bill's passage would not only increase public acceptance of hunting these species, but it neutralizes key arguments often used as reasoning to further limit or eliminate the ability of hunters to pursue them.
